Addressing the fourth session of the post-budget webinar series, the Prime Minister emphasized that sectors such as education, skill development, healthcare, tourism, sports, and culture play a crucial role in meeting public aspirations.

He noted that the webinar aims to facilitate detailed discussions on these sectors and gather suggestions from experts, policymakers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and youth to ensure effective implementation of the budget announcements.

Growing Opportunities in the Health Sector and Care Economy

PM Modi said India is working towards a preventive and holistic healthcare vision, and the country’s health infrastructure has significantly improved over the past few years.

He highlighted initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and the expansion of Arogya Mandirs, which are helping extend healthcare services to villages across the country.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the growing importance of the care economy, noting that India’s elderly population is expected to increase in the coming years while several countries face a shortage of caregivers.

This trend, he said, will create new skill-based employment opportunities for young people in the healthcare sector. He urged experts to propose new training models and partnerships to strengthen India’s healthcare training ecosystem.

Need to Increase Awareness About Telemedicine

Highlighting the importance of telemedicine, PM Modi said people in remote and rural areas are increasingly benefiting from digital healthcare services.

However, he stressed the need to increase awareness and make telemedicine services more accessible so that more citizens can take advantage of the facility.

New Education Policy Strengthening Modern Education System

The Prime Minister said that the mindset of India’s youth has undergone a major transformation in the past decade.

He emphasized that the education system must continuously evolve and remain updated to support the aspirations of young people. According to him, the National Education Policy 2020 has laid a strong foundation for modernizing the education system.

PM Modi also highlighted the importance of aligning education with the real-world economy, with greater focus on emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, automation, digital economy, and design-driven manufacturing.

Linking Education with Employment and Entrepreneurship

The Prime Minister said efforts are underway to connect education with employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

He cited university township models as examples of initiatives aimed at strengthening the link between academia and industry.

PM Modi also noted that India is promoting the AVGC sector—Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics, which is becoming an important part of the country’s innovation-driven economy.

He urged educational institutions to strengthen industry collaboration and research-driven learning to provide students with real-world exposure.

Increasing Participation of Women in STEM

The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing participation of girls in STEM fields—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

He described this trend as a matter of pride and stressed the need to ensure that no girl is left behind due to lack of opportunities in the era of emerging technologies.

He called for strengthening research ecosystems where young researchers and innovators can experiment and develop new technologies.

Sports Key to National Development

PM Modi said youth power becomes national power when it is healthy, disciplined, and confident.

He noted that in recent years, sports have been integrated into the mainstream of national development, with initiatives such as Khelo India energizing the country’s sports ecosystem.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need for better talent identification, structured financial support for athletes, and professional sports institutions.

He added that with upcoming international events like the Commonwealth Games and India’s efforts to host the Olympic Games, it is important to identify and nurture talented athletes from a young age.

Tourism and Culture to Generate New Employment Opportunities

The Prime Minister said that tourism and culture can generate significant employment opportunities and contribute to the overall development of cities and regions.

He noted that although India has numerous historical and cultural sites, tourism had long been concentrated in a few locations. The government is now focusing on developing new tourist destinations across the country.

Holistic Approach Needed for Tourism Ecosystem

PM Modi emphasized that strengthening India’s tourism ecosystem requires a holistic approach, including trained guides, hospitality skills, digital connectivity, community participation, and improved cleanliness.

He added that when institutions, industries, and academia work together, the pace of development and transformation accelerates.
