India successfully test-fired its medium-range ballistic missile, Agni-4, on Thursday from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. The test was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). During the trial, all operational and technical parameters associated with the missile were successfully validated.
Missile Followed the Prescribed Flight Path
According to the Ministry of Defence, the Agni-4 test was completely successful. The missile fulfilled all mission objectives while adhering to the designated flight path. The test has once again reinforced the operational reliability of the Agni-4 and India’s strategic deterrence capability.
Indigenously Developed Medium-Range Ballistic Missile
Agni-4 is an indigenously developed medium-range ballistic missile. It plays a crucial role in strengthening the country’s credible strategic deterrence. This test, conducted from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, reflects the continuous progress of India’s strategic missile program.

Successful Test of Agni-1 Also Conducted in May
Earlier, India had successfully test-fired the short-range ballistic missile Agni-1, further bolstering its strategic capabilities. During that test, conducted on May 22 from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, all operational and technical parameters of the missile were successfully verified. That test was also carried out under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command.
A Key Part of the Agni Missile Series
According to the Ministry of Defence, Agni-1 is a significant component of India’s indigenous ballistic missile series. It is capable of delivering precise strikes over short ranges and strengthens the nation’s strategic deterrence. During the test, the missile successfully met the designated target and flight parameters. Test of Long-Range ‘Kush’ Missile
In July, India successfully conducted the first flight test of the ‘Kush’ long-range surface-to-air missile system. This system has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The test was carried out from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
Air Defence Capability Strengthened
The Kush missile system has been developed to neutralize incoming aerial threats from long ranges. Its successful test marks significant progress in strengthening India’s long-range air defence capabilities.
