The Hartford Launches First India Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad, Plans 1,200 Jobs

Hyderabad: In a major boost to Telangana’s technology ecosystem, US-based insurance giant The Hartford has launched its first-ever Global Technology Centre (GTC) in India, choosing Hyderabad as its entry point.

The announcement was made by Telangana Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday. The new facility, spread across approximately 1,60,000 square feet in Hyderabad’s Financial District, marks The Hartford’s official expansion into the Indian market.

Focus on AI, Digital Innovation and Engineering

The Global Technology Centre will operate in a start-up-like environment, focusing on rapid prototyping, digital development, and seamless collaboration across time zones. The Hyderabad centre will work closely with The Hartford’s technology hubs in Hartford, Charlotte, Chicago, and Columbus in the United States.

The facility will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s enterprise-wide technology transformation journey, with a strong emphasis on:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Digital Innovation

  • Advanced Engineering Excellence

Over the next few years, the centre is expected to scale up to nearly 1,200 employees as it strengthens advanced digital, engineering, and AI-led capabilities for global operations.

Hyderabad Emerging as Global GCC Hub

Addressing the launch event, Minister D Sridhar Babu said The Hartford’s decision to establish its first India centre in Hyderabad follows a well-established trend among global corporations.

He highlighted that when Microsoft expanded beyond the United States, its first major development centre outside the US was set up in Hyderabad. Similarly, Google chose Hyderabad for its largest campus outside Mountain View.

In recent years, multinational companies such as McDonald’s, Vanguard, Dai-ichi Life, and Marriott International have also established Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Hyderabad.

Boost to Telangana’s Tech and Employment Landscape

The launch of The Hartford’s Global Technology Centre further strengthens Hyderabad’s position as a preferred destination for global capability centres, digital engineering, and AI-driven innovation.

With the new centre expected to generate nearly 1,200 high-skilled jobs, the move is set to enhance Telangana’s standing as a global technology and innovation hub while contributing to the state’s growing IT and services economy.
