Hyderabad: Telangana is set to strengthen its position as a global life sciences powerhouse, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announcing plans to establish a dedicated Global Capability Centre (GCC) zone within the upcoming Bharat Future City near Hyderabad.
The announcement was made during high-level discussions with senior executives from international life sciences companies on the sidelines of BioAsia 2026, hosted at the HITEX Convention Centre.
Special Innovation-Focused Zone for GCCs
The proposed GCC cluster will be designed to attract multinational life sciences companies seeking to set up innovation and research centres in India. The state government plans to provide a supportive ecosystem, infrastructure, and policy incentives to accelerate investments in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and advanced healthcare solutions.
Revanth Reddy assured industry leaders that Telangana remains committed to facilitating smooth investment processes and fostering a business-friendly environment. Hyderabad already houses several major GCCs in the life sciences domain, reinforcing its status as a preferred global destination.
Opella Healthcare to Create 500 Jobs
In a significant development, Opella Healthcare—a France-headquartered global consumer healthcare firm—has announced expansion of its GCC operations in Hyderabad. The company is establishing a 42,000 sq ft facility, expected to generate around 500 employment opportunities within a year.
BioAsia 2026 Showcases Hyderabad’s Global Standing
Addressing the inaugural session of BioAsia 2026, the Chief Minister said the summit reflects Hyderabad’s emergence as a leading global life sciences hub. He expressed optimism that BioAsia would soon gain international recognition similar to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
