Ashwini Vaishnaw: Domestic Production of Advanced PCBs to Power India’s Electronics Industry

Date:

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has stated that the upcoming Amber and Ascent electronics manufacturing facilities will mark the beginning of a new chapter in India’s electronics sector. He noted that the production of advanced printed circuit boards (PCBs) would strengthen the country’s electronics ecosystem and boost its global competitiveness.

In a post on the social media platform X on June 27, Vaishnaw said, “A new chapter in India’s electronics manufacturing. The Amber and Ascent electronics manufacturing plant will produce advanced printed circuit boards, thereby strengthening India’s electronics ecosystem and global competitiveness.”

He further added, “Every PCB manufactured here will save foreign exchange, strengthen the rupee, and improve India’s balance of payments.” The Union Minister made these remarks after laying the foundation stones for the projects in Jewar, Yamuna City, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. These projects include an advanced PCB manufacturing facility by Ascent-K Circuits—a joint venture with South Korea’s KCC—which will produce high-density and multi-layer PCBs for the electronics industry.

Separately, Amber Enterprises will invest ₹3,500 crore to set up a manufacturing facility for HVAC components and PCB assemblies. Vaishnaw had previously noted that India currently imports PCBs worth approximately ₹40,000 crore annually, and expanding domestic manufacturing capacity would significantly reduce the country’s reliance on imports.

He also highlighted the rapidly developing infrastructure ecosystem in the Jewar region, noting that the operational Noida International Airport, improved connectivity via the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, and the proposed Delhi-Lucknow-Varanasi bullet train project are making the area an attractive destination for global investors. The Union Minister stated that an emerging industrial ecosystem—supported by modern infrastructure and manufacturing investments—will help transform India into a major electronics manufacturing hub, while also boosting local production capabilities and generating employment.
