Telangana NEET-UG 2026 exam concludes smoothly with balanced and slightly easier question paper

Date:

The NEET-UG 2026 examination was conducted smoothly across Telangana on Sunday, with officials reporting more than 97% attendance and describing the question paper as slightly easier compared to previous years, according to education authorities. The exam, organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the qualifying entrance test for admission into undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS and BDS across India, making its conduct and difficulty level important for lakhs of aspirants.

Officials said the examination was held at 199 centres across Telangana, including major locations in Hyderabad, Warangal, and Ranga Reddy districts. A total of around 73,000 candidates were registered in the state, and nearly all of them appeared for the exam. The NTA also reported high nationwide participation, with lakhs of students appearing across India under a uniform testing framework.

According to preliminary feedback from students and exam analysts, the NEET-UG 2026 paper was of moderate difficulty overall, with variations across subjects. Many candidates said the biology section was relatively easier, while physics and chemistry required more time and analytical application. Some education experts noted that physics contained a few calculation-intensive questions, but the paper remained within the expected syllabus range.

Officials associated with the examination process said the paper was designed strictly in line with the NCERT curriculum, maintaining consistency with the exam pattern followed in recent years. They added that the structure continued to emphasise conceptual understanding over rote learning, which has been a key feature of NEET in recent editions.

The examination was conducted under tight security and administrative arrangements. Authorities confirmed that biometric verification, CCTV monitoring, and frisking procedures were implemented at all centres to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice. District-level teams coordinated with examination authorities to oversee smooth operations.

Officials said the overall conduct of the exam remained orderly, with only a few minor incidents reported. These included a medical emergency involving a candidate in Nalgonda district, a case of an incorrectly filled answer booklet at another centre in the same district, and a biometric verification issue reported in Suryapet. Authorities said all issues were resolved as per established protocols without affecting the examination process.

The NTA and state education department attributed the smooth conduct to advance planning, coordinated implementation, and strict adherence to examination guidelines. Centre superintendents and invigilators were briefed ahead of the exam to ensure uniform procedures across all locations.

NEET-UG remains India’s largest medical entrance examination and is the primary gateway for admission into government and private medical colleges. Performance in the exam determines eligibility and ranking for counselling and seat allocation across states and institutions. Education experts noted that even small differences in paper difficulty can influence cut-off scores and admission trends, although final outcomes will depend on overall performance distribution and seat availability.

Authorities said the official answer key and detailed result schedule will be released by the NTA in the coming weeks. Following this, the counselling process for medical admissions will begin at the national and state levels.

Education officials described the exam as an important milestone for students seeking careers in medicine, with final selection based on merit ranking and reservation policies. They added that the focus will now shift to result processing and counselling coordination across participating states.
