Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa Defeats Magnus Carlsen at Norway Chess Tournament

At the Norway Chess Championship, R. Praggnanandhaa defeated Norway’s World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen to secure a full three points in the third round of the tournament. Meanwhile, World Champion D. Gukesh’s poor form continued as he suffered another setback, losing to Alireza Firouzja in the final game after a close contest.

This victory was another great proof of Praggnanandhaa’s skill. He came to Norway right after building strong momentum at the Superbet Chess Classic in Bucharest.

With this win, the Indian player has 4.5 points and moved into second place in the Norway Chess Championship.He is now in second place, right behind Firouzja, who is in first place with 7.5 points. Gukesh, meanwhile, remains at 3.5 points and is struggling to find his rhythm. His poor performance at the Norway Chess Championship shows no signs of improving. Out of the six players competing in the open section, the world champion sits in fourth place.
