Telangana Govt Stops Rythu Bharosa Benefits to Farmers Found Cultivating Ganja

Date:

Hyderabad, April 2026: The Telangana government has taken strict action against the misuse of welfare schemes by withholding Rythu Bharosa benefits from farmers found cultivating illegal crops, particularly ganja (cannabis), in parts of the state.

57 Farmers Excluded from Welfare Scheme

According to official sources, 57 farmers from Adilabad district have been excluded from receiving the upcoming instalment of the Rythu Bharosa scheme after authorities found them involved in ganja cultivation.

The decision reflects the government’s firm stance on preventing the misuse of financial assistance meant for legitimate agricultural activities.

Move to Protect Integrity of Scheme

The Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides financial support to farmers for agricultural investment, is one of Telangana’s key welfare initiatives. Officials stated that strict scrutiny is being carried out to ensure only eligible farmers benefit from the programme.

Authorities emphasized that involvement in illegal activities such as narcotics cultivation disqualifies beneficiaries from receiving government support.

Crackdown on Illegal Cultivation

The action is part of a broader effort by the government and law enforcement agencies to curb illegal ganja farming in certain districts. Officials believe that linking welfare benefits to compliance will act as a deterrent against unlawful practices.

Strong Message to Farmers

By denying benefits to violators, the government has sent a clear message that welfare schemes cannot be misused and are intended solely for promoting lawful and sustainable agriculture.
