New Delhi : In a powerful address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a clear and resolute message to Pakistan and the world, declaring that “terror and talks” and “terror and trade” cannot go together. He underscored that India’s stance on terrorism has evolved decisively, with Operation Sindoor becoming a new paradigm in the country’s fight against terror.
PM Modi listed Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, alongside the 2016 surgical strikes and 2019 air strikes as part of India’s comprehensive policy of delivering “befitting responses” to terror threats. He said India has also put the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance, emphasizing, “water and blood cannot flow together.”
Reiterating India’s firm position, the Prime Minister said, “There will be no talks with Pakistan unless it is about terrorism and the vacation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”
PM Modi laid out three key principles of India’s updated anti-terror doctrine:
- Swift retaliation to any terrorist attack from any source.
- No tolerance for nuclear blackmail, with precise strikes against threats.
- No distinction between state sponsors and terror masterminds.
He called out Pakistan’s role in state-sponsored terrorism, referencing how top Pakistani army officers bid farewell to slain terrorists during Operation Sindoor.
Highlighting India’s military capabilities, PM Modi said Made in India weapons proved their worth in modern warfare, and stressed the nation’s unity as its greatest strength against terrorism. “This is not an era of terrorism,” he concluded.
