India’s Digital Backbone: BharathCloud Debuts First AI-Ready Sovereign Cloud Hub in Telangana

Date:

India’s first ‘AI-ready sovereign cloud’ (Bharat Cloud) has been launched within CtrlS datacenters in Hyderabad. This means secure, modern, and local cloud technology will now be available in India, significantly contributing to the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the secure storage of digital data.

The newly launched cloud centre is part of BharathCloud’s ambitious $100 million investment plan (approximately ₹950 crore) spread over the next five years. The company plans to expand its sovereign cloud infrastructure network across major Indian cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, and Pune, along with several Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

The facility was inaugurated by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, who highlighted the growing need for resilient and secure digital infrastructure in India’s rapidly evolving AI ecosystem. According to industry leaders, sovereign cloud systems are becoming increasingly important as organisations seek stronger control over sensitive data, cybersecurity, and compliance with domestic data localisation regulations.

Officials associated with the project stated that the Hyderabad cloud centre has been designed to support AI workloads, high-performance computing, enterprise applications, and large-scale data processing. The infrastructure is expected to benefit sectors such as banking, healthcare, governance, defence, financial services, and digital public infrastructure, where secure cloud environments are critical.

The launch also reinforces Hyderabad’s growing reputation as one of India’s leading technology and data infrastructure hubs. Over the past few years, the city has attracted major investments in cloud computing, AI research, hyperscale data centres, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), positioning Telangana at the forefront of India’s digital transformation journey.

CtrlS Datacenters, which hosts the facility, already operates multiple AI-ready data centres in Hyderabad and has significantly expanded its presence across India. Its infrastructure includes advanced cooling technologies, high-security systems, and cloud connectivity with major global platforms including Google Cloud, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, and AWS.

Technology experts believe the launch of the sovereign cloud centre comes at a crucial time when businesses and governments are increasingly focusing on data sovereignty, cybersecurity, and AI-driven digital services. The initiative is also expected to reduce dependence on overseas cloud hosting while enabling organisations to comply with India’s evolving regulatory and privacy requirements.

According to experts, companies like BharatCloud, with their data centers in Hyderabad, will significantly support India’s AI (artificial intelligence) development. These companies offer secure, easy-to-scale, and locally controlled cloud capabilities, which are crucial for future innovations.
