Hyderabad: Boora Narsaiah Goud Criticises Mushtaq Malik’s Remarks, Calls Proposal for Mosque “Divisive and Dangerous”

Date:

BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud on Monday strongly criticised the recent statement made by Tahreek Muslim Shabban President Mushtaq Malik, who had spoken about constructing a mosque in the name of Mughal ruler Babar. Speaking in Hyderabad, Goud said such ideas were designed to reopen historical wounds and create fresh tensions within society.

They want to construct a mosque in the name of Babar. This idea is very dangerous, as it seeks to revive the old atrocities committed by the invader Babar,” Goud remarked, alleging that invoking Babar’s legacy serves no constructive purpose in contemporary India. He added that attempts to bring back contentious historical narratives could disturb communal harmony and derail the state’s focus on development.

Goud further claimed that such proposals appear politically motivated. “It is an attempt to provoke division within society. The concept of creating a Babri Masjid is probably the idea of Rahul Gandhi,” he said, suggesting that the Congress leadership was indirectly encouraging divisive rhetoric for electoral gain.

The BJP leader stressed that Telangana, like the rest of the country, should work toward unity and progress rather than revisiting traumatic chapters of history. He argued that political groups should refrain from actions that could inflame sensitivities or polarise communities.

Goud’s comments come amid heightened political reactions to Malik’s statement, which has sparked debate across Telangana. While some groups have defended Malik’s remarks as a matter of religious expression, many others have cautioned against rhetoric that could disrupt peace. As discussions continue, leaders across the spectrum are urging restraint and responsible public communication to maintain social harmony.
