Gram Sabhas Across India on October 2 to Discuss Citizen-Centric Schemes, Launch People’s Plan Campaign 2026-27

Date:

Special Gram Sabhas will be organized across the country on October 2, 2026. The objective is to review government schemes, identify local development needs, and strengthen public participation in rural governance. These meetings will also mark the launch of the ‘People’s Plan Campaign (PPC) 2026-27’—themed “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas”.

Through this initiative, Gram Panchayats will formulate their development plans for 2027-28 based on local needs and community participation.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with other ministries and departments, is taking forward the dialogue through a ‘Whole-of-Government’ approach. Citizens and elected representatives will discuss the benefits of government schemes and their implementation, identify gaps, and determine development priorities for their villages.

Key schemes related to rural development will be discussed at the meeting. These include e-GramSwaraj, SVAMITVA, Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), One Nation One Ration Card, DILRMP, and initiatives related to water conservation.

Issues such as rural employment and livelihoods, the resolution of consumer grievances, digital services, and cooperative societies, as well as the safety of women and children, will be discussed in the Gram Sabhas. People will also be informed about the new criminal laws. Additionally, provisions related to the ‘Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026’ will be discussed during the conclusion of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign.

The ‘People’s Plan Campaign’ has been underway across the country since 2018. Under this initiative, more than 2.55 lakh Gram Panchayats prepare their development plans and upload them to eGramSwaraj.

Citizens have been urged to participate in special Gram Sabhas and share their views and local needs, so that the panchayats’ development plans can be formulated in alignment with the actual requirements of the villages.
