Amaravati, April 14, 2026: In a major boost to India’s deep-tech ambitions, Andhra Pradesh is set to emerge as a hub of quantum innovation as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu prepares to launch two advanced quantum computer test beds on the occasion of World Quantum Day.
Quantum Valley Initiative Takes Shape
The launch is part of the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative, aimed at positioning the state at the forefront of next-generation technologies. The facilities will be inaugurated at:
- SRM University Amaravati
- Medha Towers (virtually)
These Quantum Reference Facilities will make Andhra Pradesh the first state in India to host a dedicated quantum testing and certification ecosystem.
Cutting-Edge Indigenous Technology
The two test beds include:
- 1Q Test Bed developed by Qubitech at Medha Towers
- 1S Test Bed at SRM University, based on superconducting technology
Both systems operate at temperatures close to -273°C, enabling precise testing of quantum components and devices.
Boost to Research, Startups & Industry
The open-access facility at SRM University will provide a significant opportunity for:
- Researchers and scientists
- Students and academic institutions
- Startups and technology companies
It will serve as a platform for experimentation, validation, and innovation in the rapidly evolving field of quantum computing.
Backed by Top Indian Institutions
The project has been built entirely using indigenous components, reinforcing India’s push for self-reliance in advanced technologies. Key institutions supporting the initiative include:
- Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
- Indian Institute of Science
- Defence Research and Development Organisation
Massive Participation Expected
The inauguration event will see participation from experts linked to the National Quantum Mission, IIT faculty, scientists, startup founders, and research scholars. Over 1.5 lakh students from across the state are expected to join the event virtually.
