Andhra Pradesh Heatwave Alert: Severe Conditions Expected in Over 100 Mandals

Amaravati, April 2026: The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued a heatwave alert for the next two days, warning of severe weather conditions across multiple districts in the state.


Over 100 Mandals to Face Heatwave Conditions

APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain stated that severe heatwave conditions are expected in 51 mandals, while 49 mandals are likely to experience heatwave conditions tomorrow.

The situation is expected to intensify further on Tuesday, with 53 mandals forecast to face severe heatwaves and 57 mandals likely to record heatwave conditions.


North Coastal Districts Most Affected

According to officials, North Coastal districts will be among the worst affected. Meanwhile, regions of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema are also expected to witness soaring temperatures.

In several areas, temperatures have already crossed 43°C, with Pottipadu in Kadapa district recording a high of 43.8°C.


Safety Advisory Issued for Residents

Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the extreme heat:

  • Avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours
  • Wear lightweight cotton clothing
  • Use protective gear such as hats, sunglasses, and umbrellas
  • Stay well hydrated at all times

Special caution has been advised for elderly individuals and those with pre-existing health conditions, who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
