South Central Railway Exceeds Railway Board Targets in Kavach and ABS Rollout

Date:

Hyderabad, April 6: The South Central Railway (SCR) has exceeded the targets set by the Railway Board for implementing Kavach automatic train protection system and Anti-Collision System (ABS) across its network, officials said.

SCR has successfully accelerated the deployment of Kavach, an indigenous train protection technology designed to prevent collisions, overspeeding, and signal violations, ensuring safer operations for both passengers and freight trains. The railway zone has also implemented ABS at multiple key locations, surpassing the prescribed timelines and targets.

Officials highlighted that this achievement reflects SCR’s commitment to safety, modernization, and operational efficiency, contributing to the Indian Railways’ broader objective of digital transformation and accident-free operations.

The zone’s efforts are expected to significantly enhance passenger safety, reduce human error in train operations, and improve punctuality. Authorities said the success of SCR sets a benchmark for other railway zones aiming to meet or exceed safety technology targets.

Railway officials emphasized that the accelerated deployment of Kavach and ABS is part of ongoing initiatives to modernize signaling, ensure safer journeys, and integrate advanced technology into the railway network across India.
