Amaravati Declared Sole Capital: CM Chandrababu Naidu Calls for Statewide Celebrations

Date:

Following the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has called upon citizens to celebrate across all villages in the Amaravati region, terming it a historic moment for the state.

Amaravati Gets Legal Status as Sole Capital

With the passage of the bill, Amaravati has officially been granted legal recognition as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh. The move is expected to end long-standing uncertainty surrounding administrative and developmental planning.

Call for Celebrations After Rajya Sabha Approval

During a teleconference with NDA leaders, Naidu said that once the bill is cleared by the Rajya Sabha, celebrations should be held in every village, marking the completion of the legislative process.

Thanks to Central Leadership

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with all political parties that supported the bill.

CM to Visit Foundation Site

Naidu announced that he will visit Uddandarayunipalem, where the foundation stone of the capital was laid, to participate in the celebrations. He described the location as a sacred site for the state.

Criticism of Previous Government

Targeting former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu alleged that the state was left without a capital for five years and that Amaravati’s development was stalled.

Emotional Appeal to Citizens

Naidu urged people to embrace Amaravati as their capital and contribute to its development, stating that citizens can now proudly say that Amaravati is the only capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Assurance on Kurnool High Court Bench

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government will soon establish a High Court bench in Kurnool, ensuring balanced regional development.
