Telangana Begins Preparations for Godavari Pushkaralu 2027, 8 Crore Devotees Expected

Date:

The Government of Telangana has begun preparations for Godavari Pushkaralu 2027, with authorities expecting nearly eight crore devotees to participate in the major religious event.

Officials have identified 96 locations along the Godavari River across various districts, connecting them with prominent temples situated along the river.

Dates Announced for Pushkaralu Festival

According to Vedic scholars, the Adi Pushkaralu will be held from June 26 to July 7, 2027, while the Antya Pushkaralu will take place from July 13 to July 24, 2028.

The state government is preparing detailed plans based on experiences from previous Pushkaram festivals to ensure smooth arrangements for pilgrims.

96 Locations Identified for Devotee Facilities

Authorities have identified 96 riverbank locations across Telangana where major facilities will be developed to accommodate devotees.

The government is preparing state-level and district-level action plans focusing on:

  • Development of ghats along the river

  • Construction and improvement of roads and connectivity

  • Setting up medical facilities and emergency services

  • Traffic management and parking arrangements

Officials have also been directed to undertake permanent infrastructure development projects wherever possible.

Cabinet Sub-Committee Reviews Preparations

The decisions were taken during the first meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Godavari Pushkaralu–2027, where officials reviewed the festival schedule, departmental preparedness, and future development plans.

Pushkaralu to Be Organised on the Lines of Kumbh Mela

State Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said the government plans to organise the festival on the lines of the Kumbh Mela, with large-scale arrangements reflecting Telangana’s cultural heritage.

Officials said Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the infrastructure works are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Priority Development at High-Footfall Locations

In the first phase, nine high-footfall locations have been identified as ‘Tier-1’ areas, where development works will be taken up on priority.

To ensure smooth coordination, the government will appoint a Special Officer for Pushkaralu along with department-wise nodal officers.

Authorities said special attention will be given to:

  • Traffic management at ghats

  • Emergency access routes

  • Advanced medical facilities

  • Parking and crowd management systems

The large-scale preparations aim to ensure a safe and well-organised pilgrimage experience for millions of devotees expected to visit Telangana during the Godavari Pushkaralu 2027.
