Telangana Govt Allots 3.95 Acres at Khanapur to HMWSSB to Boost Water Supply in Kokapet–Neopolis Area

Date:

Hyderabad: In a major step to strengthen urban water infrastructure, the Telangana State government has allotted 3.95 acres of land at Khanapur to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). The land will be used to develop critical infrastructure to meet the rising drinking water demand in the rapidly growing Kokapet–Neopolis region.

Rising Water Demand in Kokapet and ORR Zones

With rapid real estate expansion and population growth in areas surrounding Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road Hyderabad, especially Kokapet and Neopolis, drinking water requirements have increased significantly.

Officials noted that the Kokapet–Neopolis corridor has witnessed accelerated residential and commercial development, leading to exponential growth in daily water demand.

Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project Phase II & III

To address current and future requirements, the State government has initiated the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project – Phase II & III, aimed at ensuring sustainable and long-term water supply to expanding urban clusters.

The newly allotted land at Khanapur will facilitate the development of necessary infrastructure under this project, strengthening the distribution network and ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply.

Focus on Future-Ready Urban Infrastructure

The move reflects the Telangana government’s focus on proactive planning to support Hyderabad’s expanding urban footprint. By securing land for water infrastructure in advance, authorities aim to prevent future shortages and maintain reliable supply systems in high-growth zones.

The development is expected to significantly improve water accessibility in Kokapet, Neopolis, and surrounding Outer Ring Road areas, supporting both residential communities and commercial establishments.

With continued urbanization in western Hyderabad, the new infrastructure initiative marks an important step toward ensuring water security and sustainable city growth.
