BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar Alleges Phone Tapping by Former CM KCR, Demands CBI Probe

Date:

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State and BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), of orchestrating widespread illegal phone tapping during their tenure.

Addressing the media, Kumar claimed, “Everyone’s phone, including my daughter’s and son-in-law’s phones, was tapped by KCR. The then BRS Ministers and my phone were tapped.” He alleged that the Congress government, which came to power after BRS, has failed to take any action on the matter, suggesting that both parties are “working hand in glove.”

Kumar demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), arguing that only an independent probe could uncover the full extent of the alleged surveillance.

The BJP leader’s remarks add fresh fuel to the ongoing political tussle in Telangana, where the opposition has repeatedly accused the previous BRS regime of using state machinery for political vendetta. Allegations of phone tapping have surfaced multiple times in the past, with opposition leaders, journalists, and activists claiming their communications were monitored.

The Congress government has yet to issue an official response to Kumar’s latest charges. Political observers note that if proven, such surveillance could have serious legal and political ramifications, potentially leading to criminal proceedings against those involved.

Kumar reiterated that safeguarding citizens’ privacy and ensuring accountability in governance were essential for upholding democracy, warning that BJP would continue to press the issue until action is taken.
