Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy visited families facing relocation due to the Musi riverfront beautification project, voicing strong opposition to the demolition of their homes.
During his visit, Reddy emphasized the deep-rooted history of the affected communities, stating, “These colonies here are around 30-40 years old. The poor people, by working hard, bought the land and made their houses here. This land was not given to them by the government.” He criticized the government’s plans to relocate these families, calling into question the motives behind the project.
Reddy pointedly addressed Revanth Reddy, a key figure in the opposition, stating, “Today, Revanth Reddy is talking of big things like the beautification of the Musi riverfront and the demolition of the houses here. Earlier, KCR (Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao) also had said the same thing.” He urged Revanth Reddy to focus on construction rather than demolition, asserting that the Central government would provide assistance to support housing efforts.
In a broader critique of the current state administration, Reddy remarked, “Telangana did not vote for Congress so their houses are demolished.” He alleged widespread corruption within the Telangana government over the past six months, accusing Revanth Reddy of embezzling funds and sending money to Delhi.
Reddy concluded with a rallying cry for the affected families, declaring, “I warn Revanth Reddy that we will not let them demolish the houses here. We will fight, and we are even ready to go to jail.” His passionate stance underscores the BJP’s commitment to advocating for the rights of citizens facing displacement amid development projects, setting the stage for a potential political showdown as the situation unfolds.
