Prime Minister Modi to Visit Landslide-Hit Wayanad District in Kerala

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Wayanad district in Kerala on Saturday, August 10, 2024, following the recent devastating landslides in the region. The visit is part of a broader effort to assess the impact of the disaster and support ongoing relief and rescue operations.

According to officials, Prime Minister Modi’s itinerary includes visits to a relief camp, a hospital, and the Bailey bridge constructed by the Army in the affected area. The Bailey bridge has been a crucial part of the relief efforts, enabling access to otherwise isolated regions. In addition, the Prime Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the disaster zone to gain a comprehensive view of the damage and the response efforts.

Modi will arrive at Kannur airport via a special flight before continuing his journey to Wayanad by Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. His visit underscores the government’s commitment to providing assistance and support to the affected communities and evaluating the ongoing recovery efforts.

The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to provide a significant boost to the morale of the disaster-stricken residents and the teams working on the ground. It will also offer an opportunity to highlight the government’s response to the crisis and address any immediate needs that have arisen from the landslides.
