Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address during the 111th episode of ‘Mann ki Baat’, paid tribute to the significance of ‘Hool Diwas’, commemorated on June 30th by India’s tribal communities. This day honors the heroic resistance led by Veer Sidhu-Kanhu against the oppressive British regime in 1855, setting a significant precedent before India’s first war of independence in 1857.

Highlighting the historical context, Prime Minister Modi recounted the bravery of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu and their Santhal compatriots in Santhal Pargana, Jharkhand. They united against British atrocities and stringent regulations imposed on them, ultimately sacrificing their lives in the pursuit of freedom.

“On ‘Hool Diwas’, we remember Veer Sidhu-Kanhu, whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us today,” remarked Prime Minister Modi, underscoring the enduring legacy of their struggle.

The commemoration of ‘Hool Diwas’ serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination displayed by India’s tribal communities in their fight against colonial oppression. Prime Minister Modi’s address emphasized the importance of preserving and honoring such historical milestones, which resonate deeply with the spirit of national unity and patriotism.

As India observes ‘Hool Diwas’, Prime Minister Modi urged citizens to reflect on the values of courage, justice, and freedom epitomized by Veer Sidhu-Kanhu’s legacy. The event reiterated the nation’s commitment to commemorating the contributions of tribal leaders and their enduring impact on India’s journey towards independence and social justice.
