HYDERABAD – Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a gathering in Hyderabad on Tuesday, seeking to dispel fears surrounding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He emphasized that the law is not designed to revoke anyone’s citizenship.
In his speech, Shah accused AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge of spreading misinformation among the minorities. He alleged that these leaders have been falsely claiming that the CAA would result in the loss of citizenship for minority communities.
“The Citizenship Amendment Act is not meant to snatch away any person’s citizenship,” Shah stated firmly, aiming to reassure the public and quell the rising apprehension surrounding the legislation.
