South Central Railway Implements Kavach System for Enhanced Safety and Cleanliness

Date:

Hyderabad, (UNI) In a bid to elevate train safety and cleanliness standards, South Central Railway (SCR) has deployed the Kavach system on its network, covering significant route kilometers and locomotives.

The Kavach system is an indigenous technology developed by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) of Indian Railways, which aims to prevent train collisions and derailments by providing real-time information and alerts to the loco pilots and the control room.

According to the latest update provided by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Kavach has been implemented on 1465 Route km and 139 locomotives, including Electric Multiple Unit rakes. This covers major sections of SCR, such as Secunderabad-Vijayawada, Secunderabad-Kazipet, Secunderabad-Mudkhed, and Secunderabad-Wadi.

The Kavach system is expected to enhance the safety and efficiency of train operations, especially in foggy and rainy conditions, by reducing human errors and improving situational awareness.

The deployment of the Kavach system is in line with the instructions of SCR’s General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain, who issued a clarion call to prioritize safety and cleanliness during a recent safety review meeting.

The safety review meeting, held on Monday, marked a significant stride in SCR’s commitment to ensuring utmost safety in train operations. Divisional managers converged to discuss various aspects of train operations, with cleanliness emerging as a top priority.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness inside trains, Jain urged officials to revamp onboard cleaning mechanisms. This move signifies a shift towards a more hygienic and comfortable travel experience for passengers.

Jain also underscored the necessity of track renewal works and optimal track utilization. This focus on infrastructure is poised to enhance the safety and efficiency of train operations.

The General Manager’s instructions extended to ensuring the safe running of trains, underlining the organization’s unwavering commitment to passenger safety. Regular counseling sessions for staff involved in train operations were also emphasized, highlighting the importance of mental well-being in maintaining high operational standards.

As SCR embarks on this journey towards improved safety and cleanliness, passengers can look forward to a more secure and comfortable travel experience.
