Telangana Launches Medical Tourism Society; Hyderabad to Get Integrated MVT Hub

HYDERABAD | February 21, 2026

The Government of Telangana is set to establish a Telangana State Medical Tourism Society and develop a large-scale integrated Medical Value Tourism (MVT) hub in Hyderabad. The move aims to position Hyderabad as South Asia’s leading destination for medical tourism.

Round-Table Discussion

A high-level policy round-table convened by Telangana Tourism brought together senior officials and industry representatives to discuss:

• Governance and institutional framework
• Long-term roadmap for the society
• Strategies to boost Hyderabad’s global competitiveness

Key Highlights

• City Readiness: Hyderabad has an integrated healthcare-hospitality-aviation ecosystem and strong clinical excellence.
• Coordinating Body: A dedicated agency will oversee global branding, facilitator licensing, ethical standards, and patient grievance redressal.
• Integrated MVT Hub: Planned under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the hub will combine hospitals, wellness centres, medical colleges, research institutes, and tourism services in a single ecosystem.

Market Outlook

India’s medical value travel market is projected to reach $20.4 billion by 2026. Hyderabad, already a top destination, aims to become a sector leader with structured policy support.

A detailed recommendation paper will be submitted to Union ministries in line with the Union Budget 2026, which proposes five national MVT hubs.
