Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced the establishment of 100 Telangana Public Schools across the State, with one school in each Assembly constituency outside Hyderabad city, starting from the upcoming academic year.
The announcement came during a review meeting of the Education Department held on Thursday, where key policy decisions regarding public education and private school fee regulation were discussed.
100 Telangana Public Schools Modeled on Arutla Campus
According to the Chief Minister, all 100 schools will be developed on the lines of the Telangana Public School at Arutla in Rangareddy district. The initiative is aimed at strengthening public education infrastructure and providing quality schooling facilities across constituencies.
The move comes even before the proposed Young India Integrated Schools begin operations, signaling the government’s broader push toward education reform in Telangana.
Private School Fee Regulation Under Review
During the meeting, the Telangana Private Schools Fee Regulatory Monitoring Commission submitted its report to the Chief Minister regarding regulation of private school fees.
The Commission briefed the CM about fee regulation policies implemented in other States. District Collectors and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to conduct district-level inspections and submit reports on existing fee structures.
“At the State level, a committee headed by a retired judge or retired Chief Secretary will take final decisions on the fee structure,” the Chief Minister stated.
He further suggested that the draft fee regulation framework should be placed in the public domain to invite feedback from parents, intellectuals, and social workers before finalization.
Telangana Education Policy Report Submitted
Meanwhile, Telangana Education Commission Chairman Akunuri Murali and members submitted a comprehensive report on the State’s Education Policy to the Chief Minister.
The Commission informed the CM that it had studied best practices by visiting countries such as the United States, Vietnam, and Malaysia, along with examining successful models in various Indian States, before preparing its recommendations.
Push for Comprehensive Education Reform
The announcement of 100 new public schools, along with steps toward regulating private school fees and updating the State Education Policy, reflects Telangana government’s focus on improving access, affordability, and quality in the education sector.
The proposed reforms are expected to impact thousands of students and parents across Telangana from the upcoming academic year.
