Telangana Budget Session Begins Today; Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to Address Joint Sitting

Hyderabad: The Budget Session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council begins today with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla addressing a joint sitting of both Houses in the morning.

Following the Governor’s address, the House will be adjourned for the day and will reconvene tomorrow. The session will focus on the state’s financial plans and several important legislative proposals.

Debate on Governor’s Address Scheduled

A discussion on the Governor’s address will take place over two days, on March 17 and March 18, where members of the Assembly and Council will deliberate on the government’s policies and priorities.

The session will observe a holiday on March 19 on the occasion of the Ugadi.

Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to Present Budget

On March 20, Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will present the State Budget in the Legislative Assembly.

The budget presentation will outline the government’s financial strategy, development priorities, and allocations for various sectors for the upcoming financial year.

Key Bills and Issues Likely During the Session

Starting March 23, the Assembly will begin department-wise budget discussions. Several significant legislative proposals are also expected to be introduced during the session.

Key issues likely to be taken up include:

  • Amendments to the GHMC Act

  • A Gig Workers Welfare Bill aimed at protecting platform-based workers

  • A discussion on the Musi River rejuvenation project

These proposals are expected to generate detailed discussions among members.

Telangana Talli Statue to Be Unveiled

Earlier in the day, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will also unveil the Telangana Talli statue at the Assembly premises, marking a symbolic moment ahead of the start of the Budget Session.

The session is expected to be crucial as the government presents its economic roadmap and legislative agenda for the state in the coming year.
