BJP Seeks Impartial Probe Into Makthal Incident, Alleges Political Intimidation

BJP leader N.V. Subhash on Monday condemned what he described as political intimidation in Telangana’s Makthal municipality and demanded an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a municipal election candidate.

Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Subhash said the incident involved Mahadevappa, a BJP candidate for the sixth ward in the Makthal municipality. He alleged that the candidate was harassed and intimidated by Congress leaders, which, according to him, led to the tragic incident earlier in the day. The BJP leader expressed condolences to Mahadevappa’s family and said the party stands with them during the period of grief.

Subhash alleged that the incident reflects misuse of political influence and called for a thorough and unbiased probe to establish the facts. He said accountability must be fixed based on the findings of an impartial investigation, adding that such incidents raise concerns ahead of the ongoing municipal election process.

The BJP leader further criticised the state government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging failure to maintain a fair and secure political environment. He urged authorities to ensure that candidates and party workers are able to participate in the democratic process without fear or pressure.

Officials have not issued a detailed response to the allegations, and no official version of events has been released at the time of reporting. Election authorities have reiterated that any complaints related to intimidation or violations of electoral norms will be examined as per established procedures.

Political observers note that tensions often escalate during local body elections, highlighting the importance of impartial investigations and institutional safeguards to maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
