Hyderabad, Telangana — In a recent statement, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Development of North Eastern Region of India, G. Kishan Reddy, asserted that the legal proceedings against Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K. Kavitha are not driven by political motives. Instead, he categorizes the case as one of corruption, directly linked to the Delhi Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
The Allegations and Context
The case in question has raised eyebrows across political circles. Kavitha, a prominent BRS leader, faces accusations related to financial irregularities and misuse of power. While some have speculated that the charges are politically motivated, Reddy vehemently denies this assertion.
Corruption Charges and Unemployment Woes
During a public address, Reddy expressed grave concerns about the prolonged delays in filling vacancies, alleged errors in recruitment notifications, and the challenges faced by unemployed youth. He highlighted the plight of those who had hoped for financial relief and employment opportunities but now find themselves in a precarious situation due to the government’s alleged betrayal.
“Lakhs of unemployed youngsters were eagerly awaiting the unemployment allowance, hoping to replace their worn-out slippers and pants. Now, they find themselves in a humiliating situation without employment or money, unable to face their own families,” Reddy stated. He further accused the Telangana government of delaying recruitment for years, leading parents to sell their gold valuables to provide job-oriented coaching for their children.
Chief Minister’s Promises and Home Guards’ Fate
Reddy also took a swipe at Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), reminding him of promises made on the Assembly floor. “Why did home guard Ravinder take his own life? Isn’t this your responsibility, KCR?” Reddy questioned, holding the Chief Minister accountable. He characterized Ravinder’s suicide as a consequence of the State’s actions.
Furthermore, Reddy criticized KCR for failing to regularize home guards despite earlier assurances against contractual employment. The BJP State chief believes that corruption at higher levels within the government and the Chief Minister’s careless attitude have adversely affected the futures of thousands of youths.
BJP’s Strong Reaction
Telangana BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh condemned the “illegal arrest” of Kishan Reddy during his 24-hour hunger strike. Chugh accused the police of using force against Reddy and party workers, including women. “In KCR’s authoritarian regime, even peaceful fasts aren’t permitted. It’s clear that KCR is rattled, and the manner in which he disrupted the fast underscores this,” Chugh asserted.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the case against Kavitha remains a focal point in Telangana’s political landscape. Whether it is truly devoid of political motivations or not, only time and the courts will reveal the truth.
