Thanks to her stellar performance, the Indian women’s team also clinched the silver medal with a combined score of 14-under 546.

Pranavi Becomes the First Indian Woman Golfer to Win Gold

Pranavi Urs has become the first Indian woman golfer to win a gold medal in the Asian Games’ women’s individual stroke play event. She carded an even-par 70 in the final round, maintaining consistent excellence throughout the tournament to claim the historic gold.

A Remarkable Comeback After a Triple Bogey

At the start of the final round, Pranavi held a three-stroke lead over Singapore’s Shannon Tan, who was in second place. She briefly slipped to second place after a triple bogey on the third hole but staged a magnificent comeback under pressure. By sinking birdies on the 6th, 10th, and 13th holes, Pranavi regained the lead.

Maintaining Composure on the 18th Hole

Pranavi maintained her lead by carding an even-par score on the final 18th hole, sealing the gold medal with a total score of 15-under 265. She had entered the final round in a strong position, holding a nine-stroke advantage over Hong Kong’s Sophie Han, who was in fourth place.

Women’s Team Also Makes History

Pranavi’s outstanding performance also boosted the Indian women’s team’s showing. India won the silver medal with a combined score of 14-under 546 over the four days of competition. This marks India’s first-ever medal in the women’s team event in the history of golf at the Asian Games, making this tournament a historic milestone for Indian golf.

Aditi Ashok Finishes 14th

Diksha Dagar’s final round did not go as expected. She carded a 7-over score on the fourth day, bringing her total to 12-over par. She finished in a tie for 23rd place.

Joint Silver for Players from China and Singapore

China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan shared the silver medal, both finishing with an identical score of 14-under par. Despite a strong challenge from Pranvi in the final round, both players delivered impressive performances throughout the competition.

Pranvi Fulfils Hopes for Two Medals

Heading into the final round, India had high hopes for two medals—one from Pranvi and another from the women’s team. Pranvi won gold in the individual event, and the Indian women’s team secured silver, transforming these expectations into a historic achievement.
