The Central Government has invited 100 beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme from the Delhi-NCR region as special guests to the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15, 2026. The beneficiaries will attend the ceremony accompanied by their spouses or partners.
These special guests include women artisans engaged in various traditional trades. This initiative helps empower women economically, connects them with employment opportunities, and promotes their role in preserving India’s traditional art and culture.
Beneficiaries to be Honoured
Beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme will also be honoured for their hard work and traditional skills. They will be presented with mementoes on August 14 at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in Delhi.
Following this, the beneficiaries will interact with officials from the Ministry of MSME. The objective of this event is to recognise the contributions of traditional artisans and craftspeople.
What is the PM Vishwakarma Scheme?
The PM Vishwakarma scheme is one of the flagship initiatives of the Central Government. It aims to assist traditional artisans and craftspeople in their growth and advancement.
Under the scheme, artisans are provided with facilities such as:

According to the government, 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople have registered under this scheme so far.

The beneficiaries invited to the Red Fort are associated with the 18 traditional trades covered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. These include professions such as tailors, carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and locksmiths, among others.
The invited artisans have availed themselves of benefits such as registration, basic skill training, and toolkits under the scheme.
