Hyderabad: Padiga Tejesh, a talented artistic ice skater from Hyderabad, recently won a silver medal in the individual figure skating event at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship held in Dehradun. Thanks to his outstanding performance, he has been selected as the only figure skater from Telangana to represent India at the Asian Ice Skating Championship, scheduled to take place in Indonesia later this year. Tejesh trains under the supervision of Anoop Kumar Yama, a renowned coach from Hyderabad and an Arjuna Award recipient winner.
Padiga Tejesh has established himself as one of India’s most promising young artistic ice skaters, earning numerous national and international accolades at a young age. In 2025, he won one gold and two silver medals at the Asian Championships held in South Korea. Prior to that, he delivered an impressive performance at the 2024 Oceania Championships in New Zealand, winning one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. Prior to this, he had also won a silver medal at the 19th Asian Championship held in China in 2023. In recognition of his remarkable achievements and his contribution to Indian ice skating, the Nehru Nagar Park Development Committee felicitated Tejesh on Monday at Nehru Nagar Park in West Marredpally, Secunderabad.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Hanumant Rao (President of the Nehru Nagar Park Development Committee), K.S.P. Reddy, Krishna Mohan Rao, Pramoda Rao, renowned skating coach Anup Kumar Yama, and many other distinguished community members and senior citizens.
