Telangana Fire Department Holds Safety Awareness Programme for RWAs in Hyderabad

Date:

Hyderabad: The Telangana Fire Services Department organised a large-scale fire safety awareness and interaction programme for Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) as part of the National Fire Service Week 2026, aiming to strengthen preparedness in residential communities.

The event witnessed participation from nearly 400 RWA members, making it one of the largest such gatherings focused on fire safety in recent years. Vikram Singh Mann addressed the participants, highlighting key fire risks and preventive measures for residential areas.

During the session, officials stressed the importance of maintaining functional fire-fighting systems, especially in high-rise buildings. They also emphasised the need for regular fire audits and timely renewal of fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to ensure compliance with safety norms.

The department also drew attention to emerging challenges such as electric vehicle charging safety, urging RWAs to adopt precautionary measures. Residents were encouraged to conduct mock drills and train volunteers within their communities to respond effectively during emergencies.

In an interactive segment, RWAs were invited to share feedback on the proposed amendments to the fire safety law, with officials highlighting the importance of public participation in shaping future policies. Participants welcomed the initiative and shared their concerns and suggestions.

The programme also featured a display of advanced fire-fighting vehicles and equipment, giving attendees insight into emergency response capabilities. Officials called for stronger collaboration between RWAs and the fire department to improve overall safety and preparedness.

The initiative is part of a broader statewide campaign to enhance fire safety awareness and reduce risks, especially in densely populated urban areas like Hyderabad.
