The Telangana government is stepping up efforts to strengthen its electric mobility ecosystem with plans to introduce a centralised real-time dashboard to track all EV charging stations across the state, along with measures to expand home charging access for urban residents.
The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, where officials emphasised the urgent need to accelerate the transition toward clean and sustainable mobility solutions. Authorities noted that a reliable and widespread charging network is crucial to building public confidence and meeting the rising demand for electric vehicles.
The proposed dashboard will provide real-time mapping and monitoring of EV charging infrastructure, enabling authorities to identify gaps, track rollout progress, and ensure transparency in implementation. It will also help commuters easily locate nearby charging stations, improving convenience for EV users.
In parallel, the government is working on a policy to make EV charging points mandatory in the basements of apartment complexes, recognising that easy access to home charging is a key factor in accelerating EV adoption, especially in urban areas. The energy department is currently drafting this proposal.
Officials have been directed to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to rapidly expand charging infrastructure, combining government initiatives with private sector participation to create a robust and accessible EV ecosystem.
With charging infrastructure emerging as one of the biggest concerns for potential EV buyers, the twin approach of real-time monitoring and expanded home charging facilities is expected to provide a significant boost to Telangana’s clean mobility plans and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles.
