South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded its highest-ever revenue from scrap sales, earning ₹602.06 crore during the financial year 2025–26, railway officials said.
The achievement surpassed the ₹510 crore target set by the Railway Board, reflecting improved asset management and efficient disposal of unused railway materials.
Over 1.32 Lakh Tonnes of Scrap Sold Through E-Auctions
According to officials, SCR sold 1,32,583 metric tonnes of scrap through e-auctions, ensuring transparency and fair price discovery.
The scrap included obsolete railway materials, outdated equipment, and unusable assets, which were disposed of through digital auction platforms.
Officials said the process not only generated revenue but also helped in keeping railway premises clean and organised, contributing to the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Revenue Over ₹100 Crore Higher Than Last Year
The latest scrap sale earnings represent a significant increase compared to last year’s revenue of ₹501.72 crore, marking an increase of over ₹100 crore.
This makes FY 2025–26 the highest-ever scrap revenue year in the history of South Central Railway.
Railway Officials Appreciate Staff Efforts
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the efforts of railway officials and staff for achieving the milestone.
He commended their work in efficiently identifying scrap materials, organising e-auctions and ensuring transparent disposal processes, which contributed to the record revenue generation.
Railway officials said such initiatives help optimise resource utilisation, improve financial performance and maintain cleaner railway infrastructure across the network.
