Hyderabad, Telangana: BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud has welcomed the Centre’s decision to introduce a landmark bill aimed at ensuring accountability and integrity in political leadership. The proposed legislation provides for the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, or any state ministers arrested for more than 30 days in corruption cases carrying imprisonment of over five years.
Calling it a “historical necessity and a long-pending reform”, Goud said the bill would help restore public trust in politics. “Today, every voter believes that all politicians are corrupt. Because of PM Modi and the NDA government, some credibility is brought into politics,” he remarked.
The BJP leader asserted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of clean governance and transparency. According to him, this measure will not only discourage corrupt practices but also set a benchmark of ethical conduct for those holding high public office.
Goud further criticised the opposition INDIA bloc, alleging that it is largely composed of leaders facing corruption allegations. “The entire population of the nation will welcome this bill, except the corrupt INDIA bloc alliance,” he said.
Political analysts have described the bill as a bold move that could significantly alter the accountability framework in Indian politics. If passed, it would mark one of the most stringent anti-corruption measures ever introduced in Parliament, ensuring that leaders with serious criminal charges cannot continue in office while under prolonged arrest.
The bill is expected to spark intense debate when tabled in Parliament, with supporters hailing it as a much-needed reform and critics likely to question its constitutional implications and possible misuse.
