Senior BJP leader N Ramchander Rao praised the legacy of a former Indian leader, highlighting his efficient governance despite lacking a full majority and his transformative role in India’s economic trajectory.
Speaking in Hyderabad, Rao stated, “He ran the government without any majority but with utmost efficiency and put India on the track of improving economy.” Without naming the leader directly, Rao’s remarks are widely interpreted as a tribute to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, known for ushering in key economic reforms in the early 1990s.
Rao acknowledged the former leader’s multilingual abilities, deep knowledge, and administrative acumen, calling them instrumental in navigating India through challenging times. “His talent, knowledge, and multilingual experience were great. His various contributions have made a landmark in our country’s progress,” he added.
The BJP leader’s remarks come amid ongoing political and academic discussions on recognizing unsung architects of modern India. He emphasized the need for acknowledging such historic leadership that laid the groundwork for India’s economic liberalisation and global integration.
Rao’s comments have been welcomed by many as a bipartisan gesture of respect toward one of India’s pivotal reformers, reflecting a broader call to honour national contributions beyond party lines.
