Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address at the commencement of the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and its profound contributions to science and engineering over millennia.

In his keynote speech, PM Modi underscored India’s unique position as a cradle of civilization, where every corner resonates with stories of ancient wisdom and innovation. “India’s heritage is not just a repository of historical landmarks but also a testament to our scientific acumen,” he remarked. Drawing attention to Delhi, the modern capital with an ancient soul, PM Modi highlighted the iron pillar located nearby, which has stood for more than 2,000 years without rusting—a marvel of ancient metallurgical craftsmanship.

“The iron pillar near Delhi stands tall as a testament to our ancestors’ mastery of metallurgy and engineering,” PM Modi emphasized. He pointed out that India’s heritage isn’t confined to the past but continues to inspire awe and admiration globally.

The World Heritage Committee session convenes nations to discuss the preservation and promotion of cultural and natural heritage sites worldwide. PM Modi’s address resonated strongly, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding heritage not only for its cultural significance but also for its scientific and technological contributions.

“Our heritage sites are living classrooms of history and science,” PM Modi asserted. He called for global collaboration to address contemporary challenges in conservation, including climate change impacts and sustainable development goals.

During the session, delegates will explore strategies to enhance international cooperation in heritage preservation and promote responsible tourism practices. PM Modi expressed optimism that through collective efforts, nations can protect and celebrate their cultural identities and scientific achievements for future generations.
