BJYM Protests Against Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks, Lathi-Charge by Police in Hyderabad

Date:

Hyderabad: Tensions escalated in Hyderabad as hundreds of activists from the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, took to the streets near the state BJP office at Nampally to protest against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The protest was sparked by allegations of controversial remarks made by Rahul Gandhi about Hindus during a recent session in Parliament.

The demonstrators, visibly agitated, burned an effigy of Rahul Gandhi and raised slogans condemning the Congress party. The protest quickly drew a strong police presence, with law enforcement officers resorting to lathi-charging to disperse the gathering.

BJYM Telangana president S. Mahender expressed strong condemnation over the police action, alleging that the activists were peacefully exercising their right to protest. “It is unacceptable for Rahul Gandhi to label Hindus as violent,” Mahender asserted, reflecting the sentiments echoed by the protesting members.

The incident underscores rising political tensions and polarization over sensitive religious issues, prompting swift reactions from both sides of the political spectrum. BJP leaders have denounced Rahul Gandhi’s purported remarks as inflammatory, while the Congress party has yet to issue an official statement in response to the protests.

The BJYM protest and subsequent police intervention have sparked debates on the freedom of expression and the right to dissent in a democratic society. The situation remains tense as authorities work to maintain law and order amidst heightened emotions and political rhetoric.
