HYDERABAD, TELANGANA – In a recent roadshow in Hyderabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah rallied in support of BJP candidate Madhavi Latha, who is contesting for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
During his speech, Shah made a strong appeal to the voters, stating, “From the last 40 years, Hyderabad has not got its representative. A representative of the Razakars is there (Parliament). Elect Madhavi Latha with a thumping majority, and free Hyderabad from Razakars…”
The Union Home Minister’s comments were a clear reference to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi, who has been representing the Hyderabad constituency in the Lok Sabha for over a decade. The term ‘Razakars’ refers to a militia organized by Qasim Razvi that fought against the integration of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union.
Shah’s comments have stirred up the political atmosphere in Hyderabad, which is witnessing a high-stakes battle between the BJP and the AIMIM. The BJP has been making concerted efforts to make inroads into the southern state, and the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat is of significant strategic importance.
Madhavi Latha, the BJP candidate, expressed her gratitude for the support and vowed to work tirelessly for the development of Hyderabad. “I am committed to serving the people of Hyderabad and ensuring that their voices are heard in Parliament,” she said.
