BJP Leader NV Subhash Welcomes Telangana HC Hearing on 42% BC Reservation in Local Bodies

Date:

Hyderabad, Telangana: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday continued its hearing on the Backward Classes (BC) reservation issue concerning the state government’s move to provide 42% reservation in local bodies. Reacting to the proceedings, BJP leader NV Subhash stated that the party fully supports the BC reservation bill and will accept the outcome of the court’s decision.

“The BC reservation bill is in the Telangana High Court and the arguments are going on. The BJP will welcome whatever result comes out of it,” Subhash said. He reiterated the BJP’s consistent stance in favor of increased representation for backward classes, emphasizing that the ruling Congress government must fulfill its commitment to the community.

“Since the beginning, we have been very clear on the fact that we are for the BC reservation bill, as the Congress party had earlier declared in the Kamareddy Declaration on the eve of the 2023 assembly elections. The Telangana government’s responsibility is to make the 42% reservation bill possible. They should not look for any means to escape,” he added.

The issue of enhanced BC reservation has been a matter of political and legal debate in Telangana, with various parties claiming to champion the cause of social justice. The High Court’s verdict is expected to have significant implications for local governance and political representation across the state.
