Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan delivered a compelling address at the MoU signing event held at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) in Telangana. His remarks focused on India’s vision for rural development and the broader goal of national progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chouhan emphasized the importance of rural development in achieving the overarching national objective of building a “glorious, rich, prosperous, and powerful India.” He underscored that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, there is a resolute commitment to transforming India into a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047. “Under PM Modi’s leadership, a glorious, rich, prosperous and powerful India is being built. It is PM Modi’s resolution that we have to make a Viksit Bharat till 2047,” Chouhan stated.

Highlighting the critical role of rural areas in this vision, Chouhan pointed out that India cannot achieve its development goals without the advancement of its villages. Despite the ongoing trend of urbanization, he reminded the audience that 70% of India’s population still resides in rural areas. “India cannot be a developed nation without the development of the villages. In this era of urbanization, 70% of the population still lives in rural areas,” he noted.

The MoU signing event at NIRDPR was aimed at reinforcing the institute’s role in promoting effective rural development management and enhancing collaboration with other institutions. Chouhan’s address served to reaffirm the government’s commitment to integrating rural development into the broader framework of national progress and prosperity.

The event marks a significant step in aligning rural development initiatives with the nation’s long-term goals, ensuring that efforts to uplift villages are integral to India’s path toward becoming a developed country by the centenary of its independence.
