Jaishankar Meets Bangladesh PM Hasina, Appreciates Her Guidance for India-Bangladesh Relations

External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S Jaishankar met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her State visit to India. The meeting, held in the national capital, emphasized the close and abiding ties between the two neighboring countries.

In a post on social media, EAM Jaishankar expressed his delight at calling on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina: “Her State visit to India underlines our close and abiding ties. Appreciate her guidance on the further development of our special partnership.”

This visit is significant for India-Bangladesh relations, as it marks a major boost to the bilateral ties. Over the years, India and Bangladesh have forged a multifaceted relationship based on shared history, culture, and geographical proximity. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, these warm ties have expanded further.

Notably, this is the first incoming bilateral State Visit after the formation of the Indian government following the 18th Lok Sabha elections. During her visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

India welcomes Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, recognizing Bangladesh as a key partner and trusted neighbor. The visit reaffirms the commitment to enhancing ties and fostering mutual understanding.
