Fake Video Fears Heighten in Maharashtra: PM Modi’s Message

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Satara, Maharashtra, sounded a clarion call against the proliferation of fake videos on social media platforms, cautioning that they pose a grave threat to social harmony and the democratic process.

In a solemn address, PM Modi raised concerns about the rampant spread of fabricated videos, alleging that they are being maliciously used to incite tensions and disrupt the peaceful conduct of elections. He asserted that these videos, crafted using Artificial Intelligence (AI), mimic the voices of prominent BJP and NDA leaders, including his own, BJP President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and several Chief Ministers.

Modi expressed dismay over the exploitation of technology to propagate falsehoods, stating, “Those unable to confront the NDA and BJP directly are resorting to spreading fake videos on social media.” He underscored the insidious nature of these videos, which purport to convey statements that the leaders have never uttered or contemplated.

The Prime Minister warned of a broader conspiracy behind these videos, suggesting that they are orchestrated to inflame societal tensions. He issued a stern admonition, asserting that the perpetrators aim to undermine the democratic fabric of the nation through deceitful means.

Emphasizing the imperative of vigilance, Modi urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and uphold the sanctity of the electoral process. He assured citizens that the government is taking proactive measures to combat this pernicious phenomenon and safeguard the integrity of democracy.

This incident underscores the urgent need to address the growing menace of fake news and misinformation in the digital age. It underscores the importance of fostering a culture of critical thinking and media literacy to counter the spread of falsehoods and preserve the foundational principles of democracy.
