PM Modi Accuses MVA and Congress of Neglecting Marathwada’s Farming Sector

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public meeting in Parbhani, Maharashtra, expressed his concerns over the agricultural issues in the Marathwada region. He criticized the Congress and the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for their alleged lack of concern towards the farmers’ difficulties.

“Marathwada is predominantly a farming region. The people here depend on crops like black cotton, soybean, and jowar bajra for their income,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the agricultural significance of the region. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Congress and MVA, accusing them of failing to comprehend the farmers’ problems.

The Prime Minister pointed out that irrigation is the biggest challenge in the region. He reminisced about the Jalyukt Shivar Scheme, an initiative launched during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s tenure. The scheme was designed to make Maharashtra drought-free by 2019 by enhancing soil moisture in farms and revitalizing water bodies.

However, the Prime Minister expressed his disappointment over the MVA government’s decision to halt the scheme. “The MVA stopped this scheme,” he said, expressing concern over the potential impact on the farmers of Marathwada.

The Prime Minister’s comments come at a time when the agricultural sector is facing numerous challenges. His remarks have sparked a new debate on the effectiveness of the policies implemented by the MVA government in addressing these issues.

The MVA government has yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s criticisms. The farming community and the citizens of Maharashtra are eagerly awaiting their response.
